To achieve that, we used animal models of depression (e.g. chronic stress model) in which we analysed the efficacy of joint treatment with antidepressants and GPR39 agonist. We also researched the interaction between GPR39 and 5-HT1A receptors using joint treatment schemes with agonists of these receptors. In those jointly-treated mice we later analysed intracellular signalling pathways and measured levels of proteins crucial in the functioning of serotonergic system. In brains of GPR39 KO mice, we also measured monoamine and zinc transporters protein levels. Additionally, we described GPR39 KO mice's response to anxiolytic treatment and anxiety-related phenotype. The results of our work show an important role of GPR39 in depression and anxiety. We exposed a potential role of this receptor in stress response and in response to antidepressant and anxiolytic treatment. The results presented here show that GPR39 receptor can be an important pharmacological target in treatment of depression.}, title={Interactions between GPR39 zinc receptor and monoaminergic systems in depression}, type={Praca doktorska}, keywords={depression, GPR39, zinc receptor, stress, monoaminergic systems}, }
